I'm surprised D&D were hired to write a new Star Wars trilogy, I seriously think they're mediocre at best when it comes to writing a new story, the writing in the latter seasons is arguably the worst part about the show, D&D have completely moved away from the moral complexity of the characters that we got in the early seasons, to me it's clear those two can't do much without GRRM's source material backing them up.

They are master salesmen even though they are lost at writing. They somehow convinced GRRM to let them do the show. Obviously the books are a masterpiece so its easy to see how the show took off. They ran out of material, gave the viewers what they wanted and now are in position to do any major project. Any studio exec that goes to their office can see all the awards and will pay them top dollar for them to do other projects.

    Is it Sunday yet

Sundays are so bittersweet now.  I can't wait until Sunday night for GoT, but then again it's Sunday night, and that means the weekend is over and it's time to go back to work. Crying or Very Sad

That is so true. I usually want the weekend to go at a fraction of the speed but during GOT I want to hit the fast speed button even though after the show Its back to the grind.

I keep thinking that the show has mentioned the prince/princess that was promised many times, the Lord of the Light even brought Jon back for a reason and Melisandre told Dany she'd have a part to play in that too, but basically telling Dany it wasn't her. To me it's looking more and more like Jon and Dany's child will be the prince/princess that was promised.

They have mentioned it. The Prince is the One supposed to bring an end to the dead, but the problem is the NK is already dead.  A ton of people who cant accept the ending believe the show will bring back the NK in some way but I doubt it. They could  have him pop up after the show ends in the north (kinda like an 80's movie) to set up the next battle 1000 years in the future. In a way Jon could be the Prince. Not the way most people were expecting though. Jon did bring an end to the dead. He brought everyone together including dragons to defeat the dead. Even Arya went back north after hearing Jon was in WF.

Wow this is One of the few forums that have mostly positive reviews. Its crazy but most book readers hated the episode and non book readers mostly loved it. Sadly I am in the middle. I was expecting more. Especially since they took close to 60 days to film the battle.

I loved Mel's return, Lighting the swords was f in cool plus gave an awesome visual as they are riding out. I disagree with them riding out into darkness but I understand why they did it. The Dothraki cant survive in westeros or there will never be peace once Dany dies. So this was their solution. I also liked Mel lighting the trenches. They did a really good job keeping me into the episode and the suspense was there the whole time.

I enjoyed the Unsullied's stand. They held that f in line for a very long time. 3000 unsullied were able to hold the line vs 25000 Dothraki once. After the Dothraki defeated the Second Sons and the Bright banners the city of Qohor brought out the Unsullied. They would charge, regroup, charge 18 times and in the end the Dothraki, after losing 17k units rode near the gate, Cut their braids and threw it down in front of the Unsullied. They did a very good job showing their main skill.

I also liked the little bear killing the giant but think they should have had her throw a sword into his eye instead of having the mindless giant pick her up and bring her to his eye lol. Theon's death was great and Jorah's last stand defending Dany was epic. Even Dany thru down some shots.

There are a ton of dislikes but a few were Bran served no real purpose this episode. His main gift is intel and didnt provide numbers, location, anything really other than giving the blade to Arya. His story was to become the 3 eyed Raven, Learn as fast as he can, Be prepared for when the battle happens and do nothing. I really hope they something more with his character.

The artillery was only used once, All the troops were positions in front of the trenches instead of behind. No one fired arrows at the army of the dead while they were standing near the fire. it wasnt until Davos saw them coming across that he called for people to man the walls.

I disliked the ending the most. Even though it was obvious what was going to happen when Arya left running it seems they did a good job because most people forgot about her. But All this f in buildup with the NK and Jon was for nothing. I was expecting them to fight. I thought if they fought Jon would lose and Arya would then play a role but no.

They could have had Jon and the NK fight until Jon was exhausted in the floor, The NK could have raised  the army. Jon could have been held via chock hold to watch the ending. As the NK went to kill Bran Jon would start to push forward causing him to start to get strangled in a similar fashion how Ned's brother died when he saw his father get burned by the Mad King. And out of no where the hound launches Arya like they did ion the show ( thats the only explanation I can come up with for her to get that high lol) and she finishes him off .

All in all it was a good episode. Not as good as BOTB but good enough. I just expected more. I know this show is not the books so I watch it knowing its not the same story. That allows me to enjoy it more but it left alot unanswered. I hope Bran has answers next few episodes.

Good points. Everyone has a right to want it to play out a certain way which is both pleasing visually and conceptually. Could they have made certain aspects more realistic and sensible? Sure. But I still was in awe of the viewing experience and give room for liberties to be taken that don't adhere to our laws of nature. I too hope Bran has more to give because his story does flounder a bit. Thanks for providing some background stories too. I'm close to buying the books, but really....REALLY don't want to get to the end of them and have to wait for the rest to be written.

Yeah there will be a long wait till the last book. I think GRRM already has Winds Of Winter finished but is waiting for the show to end to release it. It was supposed to be done around the time season 4 finished but I think he didnt want to give the show runners any more material other than the basics. But the final book could take close to a decade with all the plot lines to be wrapped up but part of the fun is thinking of all the outcomes. There are a ton of theories on the show and its fun to speculate but the book has endless rabbit holes so imagine the fun you could have there lol.

As for the next battle, The obvious strategy would be to wait and force Cersei north. They still have some unsullied to help hold the line plus they have the dragons. Cersei would be forced to attack because at some point she will lose the Golden Company when the bill gets to high. Hot climate army's usually struggle in winter battles. plus the logistical nightmare with feeding such a large force so far away would be a concern. But I doubt thats what they will do.

With all the prophesies they didnt complete, I wouldn't be surprised if they avoid doing the Valonqar. But it will be funny if they do. The only prophecy they didnt mention happens to come true. I was hoping for Arya to defeat the Mountain using the dagger trick but since they already used that shot it will probably be the Hound. Hopefully they end on a high note to setup the prequel.

I got no idea what’s gonna happen but if they go with a “everyone dies except Samwell Tarly who writes the story” cliche I’m gonna be rustled.

I would prefer that ending vs the old "they were dead all along" ending lol.
