This is my business.  First, you can't execute a finance contract until you turn 18.  But let's assume you'll be doing this when you turn 18.

After taxes title and license, if you're buying an 8500 car after putting down 4000 you'd be borrowing around 5500, depending on taxes in the state you live.  That price on a hybrid means it will be very used, over 5 years old, maybe closer to 10 (I have a 2013 Prius that is worth around 12k).  That means it will have a lot of history, and the interest rates will be higher on that unit.  Interest rates are figured from two points, risk based on the customer and risk based on the vehicle. At 18 years old with obviously no credit, you will be high risk, and then an older hybrid also brings risk.

Some companies even have issues financing hybrids. Warranties are often encouraged for those, but due to the Hybrid battery, can be more expensive than normal batteries.  Not a huge fan of used Honda hybrids. Toyotas (Camrys and Priuses) are solid, but still have the same worries of history and how well the prior owners took care of the units.

Let's say you get approved (unlikely without a cosigner, but let's say you do), you'll likely be faced with interest rates in the low to upper 20s, depending on the lender. Very unlikely you'll get lower interest rates. The lender may or may not require a warranty, which may add 1-2000 to the loan, and perhaps GAP insurance as well.  By financing, you'll also be required to keep full coverage (Comprehensive and Collision) insurance, not just liability, so you have to factor that in to your payments. Depending on the mileage of the unit, you may only get a 2-3 year loan, instead of a longer term long, so you may end up with payments over $300.  Can you afford that?

My best recommendation, get yourself a decent Toyota Camry or Corolla for that $4000.  Sounds like you're a sure thing for college and you don't want to have the burdens of car notes to start out adulthood.

I trust your expertise, you're much wiser than me especially on this topic. Could you recommend me something that will last a while, be safe, and get good gas mileage?

Any small Honda or Toyota would fit all three. Namith mentioned the Camry or the Corolla. The Honda Civic is in that same category and there are enough different variations of the civic that you can find one that fits your preferences. I don’t personally trust American made cars when they get up in mileage ( which at your price point is a possibility) but a Chevy Cruz or Ford Focus type car would work too. The good news is, that there is plenty of after market support for all of these cars, so repairs can be easily done in the comfort of your own garage.

It would be a tough call between pizza and tacos. Both can have many different forms so that would allow for a little variety

I would really like to be a radio DJ, kinda along the lines of a morning show host. I want to talk about random things while listening to the music I love. Plus I think it would be really cool to use that as a platform for community engagement and try to put programs together that benefit my listening areas

Somebody told me that they are adding 30 or 40 maps, including some from COD4 and MW2... Anyone else hear that?

Did not, but I'd much rather they do something about SBMM than maps.

SBMM?... I can't say I know what that is 🙃

Skill based match making I believe, it’s a big thing in Apex and it’s causing some issues over there, I imagine the same issues are happening with COD. I would love some new maps though

I have it through my cell provider and have been watching episodes of boy meets world during downtime at work. Watched the movie heavyweights on a whim too. I dunno if I’ll keep paying after the year is up, but I’m happy with what they have so far so I’ll give it til then to decide.

I think that the Beatles have got to be one of the most overrated bands ever. Their music is okay, but for them to be regarded as a top 3 band is just silly in my opinion.

How can you say that without even giving any real opinion.

I did give my opinion, their influence is great, but there music is just ok, and I could name at least 3 better  bands.

There are two problems with this though wonka. You gave a very vague opinion, you didn’t give any specific things you dislike about the Beatles, why you think they are overrated, ect, and I could probably name 3 bands I like better then the Beatles as well, but that doesn’t take from what the Beatles contributed to music history.  Music is so subjective based on what one listener prefers to the other, but the Beatles will always have a special place in music lore because of what they did to the industry as a whole

Let's go with Coldplay, Walk the Moon, and U2

First off, Bono is a turd.  With that out of the way, U2 and Coldplay might be prolific but not at the same level of the Beatles. Walk the moon can’t even be considered in the ball park as the other two. They have some good songs but their influence on music isn’t close to the other two you listed or the Beatles. The Beatles music changed the face of rock in roll in America at the time.  Their mastery of 3 chord songs helped make their catalog huge which made them accessible to a lot more dynamics than what was currently happening.  Their influence on music is still being felt today and is still inspiring artists.  I think it’s just a generational thing. I grew up listening to the Beatles because my parents went through the British Invasion as kids and saw what the Beatles’ music did to the world first hand.  A bunch of their songs still remind me of my childhood (as does a lot of other classic rock ect) but I can see where someone younger would feel disconnected from the music of the Beatles

Indiana- fun fact: We are called the Hoosier state because as the early settlers from the original colonies moved west, people in Indiana would ask as they were traveling through. “Who’s your state?”  Asking where they were from, and so it stuck as the Hoosier state. (At least that is one of the more popular theories on the origin)
