    Phil Simms should be irate.

2 Rings as Giants starter. Had to fight through not just 1 but 2 dynasties to do it (9ers, Redskins)

He's the original Eli. Why isn't he in??!!

Simms only had 1 as a starter, Hostetler won the 2nd or I should say Norwood lost the 2nd.

Simms started 3/4 of that season, winning his first 10 starts.

And? He didn’t play any of the postseason nor did he touch the ball in the SB. Wentz went 12-2 in 2017 so using that criteria would you say he won a SB as a starter?

I'm certainly not going to write him off for Hostetler, who never stayed healthy himself.

also eli legitimately played way better in his super bowl wins than simms did.

     Bologna

Simms had a damn near perfect game against the Broncos.

    22-25, 268 yards,  3 tds, 150.9 rating

    Eli will retire. HOFer! Compiler!

    The disrespect... Smh

More SB rings than Aaron Rodgers and Brett Favre.

    #CantonBound!

we've gone round and round on this 2 or 3 times.

Yes, Manning will make the HOF. Theres no doubt.

But theres also no doubt that he was never a top 5 QB in his era, and barely top 10.

    That's not a HOFr, IMO.

But he'll get voted in. The voters value Rings over individual accomplishment.

Florio suggests Pettine may not be back

Not sure whether to buy that.

     I wouldn't mind that. Boom-or-bust defense isn't exactly ideal.

Yeah, but what are the alternatives?

    Wade Phillips?

Mike Smith has been at it awhile, maybe he's an in-house candidate

They don't have 4-3 personnel, so that's completely out.

Just seems far fetched to me

That particular Packers team didn't need Rodgers heroics like Brees' team. Brees had to engineer multiple come from behind victories. And people go crazy over Rodgers lack of picks that year, but much of that is because he does pass less, asked to do less, and Rodgers is known (especially now) to take sacks rather than try to force the ball. That's fine, when it's not needed. But when you have a team like Brees has had through his career with sub-par defenses, well, you gotta do more. Also can't be ignored (although so many do) is Brees had broken his own record for completion % that year. That's efficiency.

The 2011 Packers were historically bad in yards allowed. I believe they were 2nd worst at that point.

The most certainly did need Rodgers. And he nearly went undefeated with that trashcan D.

I'm not one to talk about organizations, in the way the Bears have never been able to find a damn franchise qb, but could you imagine if the Packers' organization surrounded Rodgers, especially in his prime, with at least an average defense?  Never understand why for so many years they refused to upgrade the defense.  Who knows, they could have maybe one at least one or two more SB's, although beating the Pats would have been difficult, regardless.

I wouldn't say it was from lack of trying.

The 2010 D got old in a big hurry. Then they invested huge on D in the Draft, but none of the picks ever panned out. And LOL, the two that did, they let leave (Hayward, Hyde)

Glad they never faced the Pats though. McCarthy couldn't beat Carroll, Coughlin, Harbaugh... Belichick would have completely depantsed him.

    Edit;

2011-2017 The Packers drafted 27 defensive players

9 1st and 2nd round picks... only 2 remain with the team (Clark, King)

19 never started a full season

Only 6 players remain of the 27, 4 from the same Draft (2016)

    Never won an MVP award

    Only 3 top-5 MVP finishes

    Never won a batting title

    Only a 5x Gold Glover

    I simply don't get it.

If he played 20 years with a small-market club I doubt he would be a first-ballot inductee.

This is exactly why. Playing for a team like New York for all those years has its perks!

6th in hits.. I mean, I'm not suggesting he wouldn't get in..

But the outcry that he wasn't unanimous is silly.

He wasn't even the best SS of his era.

Rodgers D has aaaaaalways been bad but still lands Olivia Munn and Danica Patrick.

Ok but seriously his defense is always brutal. Again, I hate GB and Rodgers, but I absolutely recognize hes all-time great. I would definitely rank him ahead of Brees all-time.

I think the next couple years will define that.

I'm not convinced they're going to get back to being an elite offense with the money they're going to have to invest in their core players. (Clark, Jones, Bak, Martinez) They'll have to nail their drafts.

As much as I love him, and as much as I've enjoyed watching him, he doesn't look like he can get back to being the player he was 5 years ago. Forget about 10 years ago. Something is just off.

Granted, might still be that a$$ kicking talking. But man, I just don't see it. Its just like the end of Favres run. The magic is gone.

.. I'd put Brees ahead of Rodgers on the all-time list right now. Really not close. Brees body of work late is amazing. Rodgers is definitely trending the wrong direction.

At least the Brady V Rodgers debate is over. Thank the lawd!!

The 2011 Packers were 27th defensively by weighted DVOA. The Saints were 25th.

They were able to cause turnovers.

They allowed the most passing yards in NFL history as of 2011 (4796)

I think mahomes is undoubtedly the best qb in the world, nobody should have any question marks about this guy and the crazy thing he’s in his 3rd year..

didnt wilson win one in his 2nd year?

Idk what u mean by that, Super Bowl? I wasn’t meaning that We don’t know if he’ll win it but I’m saying the crazy thing about him is he can still get better and better, we’ve never seen a qb like mahomes and he’s what 24 or 25?

Sure we have, this is how people felt when Rodgers became Rodgers.

    Marino... Manning...

He is the best QB in the game now, but lets see what Mahomes is once that offense starts to disband.
