I don’t think there’s any doubt about Taysom Hill is one of the premier gadget players in the league. My question is, when he is a full time starter and opposing teams are preparing for him alone, will he be able to read disguised defenses and beat teams with his arm? I’m skeptical that he’ll be able to do that consistently.

With all the talk about what Mahomes will make its kind of funny that Brees will essentially be the first QB with a 40-50M average when you factor in the 21.3M cap hit he has for 2020 when he’s not even under contract for next year.

Kiper's new mock draft has us taking Antoine Winfield Jr. 👀🤔

First round? No way, I could see day 2 him getting drafted.

Yea, he has him ranked as his 10th best safety, but yet we take him at 25 as the 2nd safety off the board lol 🤷‍♂️

someone explain this math to me?  ^^

I was told there would be no math.

Well... we're still here for now.

Seems like the Broncos are the team being linked most to slay. CHJ wants to leave, so that would make sense.

I would be leery about giving up anything more than a day 3 pick and I wouldn’t want to sign him long term. He’ll be 30 after this coming season, didn’t play all that well this year and CB’s seem like they don’t age well and their play typically falls off of a cliff.

"Teddy Bridgewater is expected to have a “strong market” in free agency and could land a multi-year deal, paying him around $30M per year."

Seems really strange. Surely nobody's giving him anywhere near that, especially with him being viewed as a bridge QB.

I was TeamTeddy in the winter of 18 and I always will be. I get why the Vikings made the choice they did with so many unknowns surrounding him that offseason but I really hope he gets paid and wins a lot of games over his career.

I still don't think people are understanding my points. This chat is definitely a clique, but man, I just must not talk like I think I do on here. I have conversations with friends, family and coworkers about this stuff nearly every day and it's way, way smoother. Friendly arguments, nothing beyond that. I don't want y'all to hate me, granted, I also don't care too much. The contrast just confuses the crap out of me.

It’s not a clique it’s just multiple members calling out a bad take or a clearly biased one.

Case in point- you claim Prescott and Cousins don’t deserve their contracts when in fact they both just turned in seasons that placed them in the top echelon of QB’s in nearly every single advanced metric. Flashback to last offseason, you praised the sign and trade of Frank Clark, a contract that made him the second highest paid DE on average, going so far as calling him a top 5 DE in the league when he had never turned in a season that warranted that kind of payday or consideration as a top 5 DE.

That is what people will call out as bad takes or biased takes.

It's definitely a clique. There's a group of Patriots fans here that if you say anything bad about Brady or that team, they mob you for it. Unless it absolutely can't be denied. Try it, I dare you.

They also mercilessly bully people like Chase, going as far as calling me "the next Chase". Sure, he can be a little bit annoying sometimes. But that treatment is not warranted, and should not be, not only accepted by a mod, but joined by a mod. It's ridiculous. But complaining about manners on an internet forum is like complaining about city traffic. Nothing is going to change.

It's been so long I hardly remember the Frank Clark situation. I remember saying (possibly later on) that I think he was overpaid a little bit. I do remember saying he was a top 5 DE, and I think the reason was because over the past three years (not including this most recent one) no DE had more sacks than he had (32). I feel like that's a perfectly warranted reason to call him a top 5 DE. And after this season, I still believe him to be a top 5 DE. Those who knew what was going on understood that for the first part of the season he was dealing with both a sickness and nerve in his neck causing him to lose feeling in part of his body. Once he got all that fixed, the dude was a monster, finishing with at least one sack in 6 of the last 8 regular season games, and tallying 8 sacks in the playoffs, three of which coming on fourth down with less than two minutes remaining in the game. Defensively, the MVP of the regular season was Mathieu. In the playoffs, it was Clark.

I don't think Cousins deserves the contract he got at all, and dude, many people agree with me. Tons of people here were saying that when it happened. Cousins is what, 6-30 against teams with a winning record? That is awful. He's still a good player, I never said he wasn't. But stats don't really matter when you can't win when it matters. Imo, no person should have the contract he got with that kind of reputation. Dak is a good player too. But I don't think he should get even close to the amount Wilson has and Mahomes is projected to get when both of those guys have, you know, won Super Bowls. But that's just my thoughts. I want to move on from Dak and talk about something else, please. If I have to, I'll just stop responding.

     2016-2018 Sack Leades

    Chandler Jones 41

    Danielle Hunter 34

    Khalil Mack 34

    Calias Campbell 33

    Cameron Jordan 32.5

I like Clark and don’t have a problem with what he’s paid because I think he has the potential to produce a top 5 season I just don’t believe he’s put together a full season like that yet. I just found it ironic is all.

6-30 sigh. I’ll provide some context if that’s what you’re basing his contract off of.

Cousins per game averages in starts against +.500 teams and teams that are .500 or worse.

    +.500- 24-37 64.9% 276 YDS 1.66 TD .89 INT

    .500- 22-32 68.7% 254 YDS 1.69 TD .65 INT

Rushing offense is games Cousins started.

    +.500- 20 ATT 47 YDS 2.35 AVG .29 TD

    .500- 21 ATT 95 YDS 4.52 AVG .69 TD

Average final score in those games.

    +.500- 21-28

    .500- 22-17

Tell me more about why he can’t win those games when he’s largely the same player while the rushing offense is cut in half and the defense is giving up an average of 2 more scores.

On average Cousins has played with the 21st ranked rushing offense and the 18th ranked defense in total defense. Last year was the first year he played where both of those units were top 10. You would be shocked at how QB’s like Montana, Manning, Brady, Brees, Rodgers and Wilson have fared when they have top 10 rushing offenses and total defenses versus when they don’t.

I’ll always be a fan of the players getting everything they can while they can, Viking players included, rather than lining the pockets of multi billionaires.

One could argue that it makes it difficult to compete when one player takes X amount of the salary cap. Is that the players fault or is it the fault of the NFLPA for not negotiating a better deal in 2011?

I fully expect to see the cap jump significantly in the next CBA, it’s just a matter of which concessions the players are willing to accept to make it happen.

I automatically don't like Dak because he's asking for more than freaking 33 mil a year. That's ridiculous for a guy who has won one playoff game. He's a good QB though. I just hate his attitude. Watson would never, and he deserves that contract more than Dak imo.

Dak would be asking for that much because he has leverage, and the market says he can.  Timing and leverage are always more important than anything in negotiations.  Why do you hold against someone trying to maximize their earnings?  How do you know Watson wouldn't ask for the same thing, if not more?  Houston is looking to extend him this offseason.  I'd be surprised if it's not for more than Wilson's deal.  Watson's agent has gotten deals that reset the top of the market at a position multiple times, so I don't think there'll be any discounts handed out (not to mention the fact Bill O'Brien will be negotiating the contract most likely, and he'd likely be out of a job it not for Deshaun so he'd be smart to just pay whatever it takes)

I never said that Watson would take a discount, let me clarify. If Watson was in Dak's exact position with the exact same stats, in other words if he basically took his place, I think he'd take 33 mil a year. It's a character thing.

As for Dak, what you're saying makes sense if he was one of the top QB's in the league, but watching him over the years I just don't think he is up there with the best of the best. I mean, we're talking a Wilson-like contract here. Do we really think he's as good as Wilson? Or Watson for that matter? I don't think so, and so I don't think he deserves as much or more than those two. But it's not up to me, and because they do want to keep him for life I wouldn't be surprised if he ultimately gets the deal he wants, and then it becomes a question of was it worth it, or did he just steal the team's lunch money.

What has Dak ever done to be considered a person of low character or less character than Watson? Am I missing something here?

Does anyone here support the idea of trading Diggs?  I can't wrap my head around why we would even entertain the idea, but there's a non-quiet portion of the fanbase that wants it

I get it, we have roughly 200M tied up in a QB and two WR’s with a coach that wants to win with the run game and defense, that doesn’t mean I like it though.

I’d think they’d have to get more than they got for Percy given Diggs is a way better WR than Percy ever was and he isn’t a malcontent, yet.

Yea, I mean I understand the thought process behind it being an idea, but I just can't fathom thinking it's a good idea.  The only argument I can get behind is saving money in 2021 and beyond, and I know we need money this year, but we only save $5.5 mil this year. I just don't see how whatever 5.5 mil gets in upgrades is better than having Stefon freaking Diggs on the roster.

I'd rather pay that $5.5 mil this year, and maybe reconsider moving on in 2021 if this year goes terribly. Moving on now we save the 5.5 mil this year and 15 mil next year. Moving on next year we can still save 9 mil in 2021.

It'd have to be an amazing, franchise changing deal to be worth it and I don't see that happening.

DC seems like the spot Diggs would want to go so I could talk myself into a scenario where the Skins tag Scherff and trade him along with Trent Williams for Diggs and Reiff, maybe some picks both ways.

It would pretty much fix our OL but it would also be a huge hit to DC’s line, something they probably don’t want to do with Haskins entering year 2.

I also really like this years WR class and I think this would be the perfect year to grab one in a loaded class if Diggs wasn’t here.
