• published the article Madden 20 Base Roster Ratings Released

This morning, EA released their Play-Now/CFM roster ratings for Madden 20. The roster set is highlighted by four 99 OVR players in Aaron Donald, DeAndre Hopkins, Khalil Mack, and Bobby Wagner.

Here are your Top 10 players by overall rating in Madden 20.

    • Aaron Donald (LAR) | 99 OVR
    • DeAndre Hopkins (HOU) | 99 OVR
    • Khalil Mack (CHI) | 99 OVR
    • Bobby Wagner (SEA) | 99 OVR
    • Antonio Brown (OAK) | 98 OVR
    • Julio Jones (ATL) | 98 OVR
    • Luke Kuechly (CAR) | 98 OVR
    • David Bakhtiari (GB) | 97 OVR
    • Todd Gurley II (LAR) | 97 OVR
    • Patrick Mahomes (KC) | 97 OVR

Base Madden Ultimate Team rosters tend to start with lower overall ratings at launch than base rosters. Usually, the best players in the main rosters will begin the year in the 89-92 OVR range in MUT. For example, let's compare the MUT 19 "NFL Draft" Deandre Hopkins (which came out in late March) to the Madden 20 "99 Overall" Deandre Hopkins (at launch):

MUT 19 "NFL Draft" Hopkins (98 OVR) Madden 20 Hopkins (99 OVR)
    Speed 94 92
    Jump 96 99
    Route Running (Short/Medium/Deep) 96/95/93 96/95/91
    Catch In Traffic 98 99
    Spectacular Catch 96 99

As you can see, the MUT "Overall" formula differs a bit from regular roster formula.Typically speaking, you're going to need to max out in every important rating for a given position in MUT to achieve the 99 OVR rating, while there is a little wiggle room where you can still achieve the 99 Overall designation in "Regs" rosters.

Either way, this database will allow you to do some mental team-building in anticipation of our MUT ratings release (exact date TBD)! You can check out the rest of the the rankings on EA's Player Ratings Database.

    Welcome back to ZAN's Corner!

This week, we look at a safe redzone passing concept that you can most likely create in whatever playbook you run. By utilizing a TE corner and a HB Wheel to the wide side of the field, we create a concept that can neutralize 91 ZCV in the redzone by spacing the field with both high-low and horizontal flooding concepts that should open up easy reads down in the toughest area of the field to score!

This week on the show, we take a look at how you can utilize the Cover 6 from the 4-3 Over, or other formations to help slow down that pesky Gun Bunch Wk offense that has been so popular in the Madden Community this year. With this, you will want to utilize the "Cover 4" side of the defense on the solo WR side of the Gun Bunch, so make sure to turn off your auto-flip if you tend to leave that on!

As always, post any questions, comments, concerns, or complaints below. I will be happy to help throughout the week!

  • published the article ZAN's Corner: SHUTTING DOWN the HB Stretch

    Welcome back to ZAN's Corner,

This week on the show, in light of the recent Ultimate League meta offense, we will break down how to decimate the HB Stretch to BOTH the short and wide side of the field by using one simple and easy rule. As the year goes on, players are falling in love with the HB Stretch. After the intial meta change in which players started to base align and press from Cover 2 to allow the wide side corner to fly into the backfield in his "force" run assignment, many players started to run the stretch to the short side of the field where the base alignment issue does not apply.

This tip in the video will stop the stretch to either side of the field from any defensive formation (except Quarter or Goalline) and ANY PLAY in the game!

As always, post any questions, comments, or concerns below! I will answer as many as I can throughout the week!

Have a great week and I'll see you again next Sunday!

Welcome back to ZAN's Corner! Can you believe it's Episode 38 already!?

This week, we break down that pesky "Rule of 4" that sometimes causes your Cloud Flats to play man-to-man coverage on a wide receiver, and what you can do to counter it! I'm pleased to kick off 2018 with you by showing you how I like to attack the vaunted "Cover 2 MLB Deep" defense that is ever so popular in the Madden community right now. With this concept, that can be found schemed in with the rest of our #ExoticSmashmouth Titans Offense on http://www.playbook.gg, you will be able to force your opponents to run something...ANYTHING other than this defense.

For those of you looking for the counter, we also show how to defend this concept as well in the video, so make sure to stick through this video!

I look forward to spending 2018 with you all, tackling the toughest competitive Madden tactics as a community! I hope you all had a safe and happy Holiday break. Let's get back at it!

    Welcome back to ZAN's Corner,

This week, we highlight the SteveyJ Offensive Gameplan on Playbook.GG. SteveyJ is so confident in his ability to move the ball down the field, that he wanted to tell you all how to stop the pitch. He feels like the benefit of his gameplan lies in the fact that he can come out in the pitch, and force the defense into a specific look to stop it - allowing him to access his other plays (via the new "On The Fly Audible System") to attack from there!

Be sure to check out this defense - as it definitely will help contain that ever popular "Tight Slots Pitch" offense that players run so frequently in Weekend League! As always, leave any questions, comments, concerns, or complaints below!

    Welcome back to ZAN's Corner.

This week, we tackle different and unique ways to beat Cover 2. A lot of the reason that players rely on Cover 2 with a MLB in a Deep Third Zone is that this specific defense takes away the two most dominant routes in Madden 18 - the Corner and the Post.

This week, we show you two simple and effective ways to attack Cover 2 zone as well as the ever-popular Dollar 3-2-6: DB Fire 2 by using hitches to open up the zone coverage! As always, post any questions, comments, or concerns below and I'll try to address them throughout the week!

    Welcome back to ZAN's Corner.

This week, we show how to run the best goal line run in Madden 18: Power G. This is similar to a Power O scheme, with the main difference being that the play-side offensive guard pulls out in front of the play as a lead blocker, along with the fullback. You will receive down blocks from your tackle and both TEs on this run scheme, creating a giant alley for you to pick up good yardage in a short-down scenario. I find that this is best run out of the Philadelphia Eagles playbook, but this concept exists in MANY playbooks in the game.

Be sure to check out our playbook tool over at http://www.playbook.gg/18/playbooks to see if your favorite playbook has this run in either the "I-Form Wing" or "Goalline" formations.
