I don't mind the cooldown, stops me cheesing too much. But I hate the 300,000 target, gives no wiggle-room for a disconnect.

Just because I don't feel there's a great deal of controversy in the original core elements. I was going more for what they've added in-year.

    I just updated this https://old.muthead.com/forums/madden/mut-discussion/1547004-counting-cards-which-teams-are-favored

From a Seahawk point of view. They've been getting fewer cards than many of the other competitive teams, but when they do get good cards, they tend to be really good ones. I suspect the lack of cards is partly down to playing style, they didn't steam roller teams - so they didn't get that many TOTW cards.

Perhaps the Seahawks benefit more from older players with Power Ups than most other teams?

The Bills and Jags have most cause for complaint in my view

  • posted a message on Counting cards. Which teams are favored?

I did something like this a while back, this is an update, carried out in a slightly less time-consuming way.

It's a flawed methodology. I could have picked 89+ or 92+ and I'd have got somewhat different results. It's also flawed in that it doesn't account for power-up and vet cards being able to switch team. I'd hope some of that evens out, but it won't do so perfectly.

    Cards excluded are:

    • Redux
    • all legends except the highest one for each team
    • Captains
    • Tilman and Holt
    • Core Elites

    As at 01/28/20 (am)

It's broadly a case of good teams getting more cards as one would expect, and playoff teams will definitely have had a boost. There's also an advantage for the more historic franchises.

Positive outliers: Eagles, Pats, 49ers, Steelers

Negative outliers: Bills & to a lesser extent the Seahawks, both don't get many good cards despite having good seasons, but those cards they do get tend to be upper-echelon. Jags seem harshly treated however you look at it.

I think we will get another 95 pass at level 85 and a 96 pass at level 90, to go with the 96 pass we get in about 2 weeks for daily objectives - if they follow past patterns, although I seem to remember that last year, didn’t they start increasing only by 5 levels at some point?  In that case, we will only get a 96, and not a 95 if we only go to level 85.

I don't recall it ever going up 5 levels last year, although there were some new series where it didn't go up at all!

Otherwise, totally agree. 95 pass at level 85 and 96 at level 90.

I think I recall hearing that FO name the December players tomorrow (Monday), but not sure if that means the cards are actually released tomorrow.

It beggars belief that a business dependent on the NFL (EA), should allow it's resources extended leave over the most important weeks of the NFL.

  • posted a message on An argument for No Money Spent.

I spent approx $2k on Madden 19, it didn't bankrupt me, or cause me any particular financial hardship, but I was an absolute idiot for doing so. I'm normally fairly smart, and quite careful with money, and I knew I was spending a bit too much, but I was shocked when I worked it all out at the end of the season.

This year I've not spent a penny beyond buying the game, and I've not enjoyed it any less. My team may be slightly worse than last year, but it's still a decent 93 overall (Seahawks/Giants/Ravens them team), and I can pay a couple of months off my mortgage.

So, if you're spending, it might be worth doing a little calculation of what you've spent so far, and just make sure you're still OK with it.

EA does seem to have this thing where they lock onto a player and he gets good cards whatever. Vita Vea, Calais Campbell, LeVeon Bell,  Juju, Travis Frederick, LVE, Daniel Jones. None of them are bad players, but they consistently get good cards, while the likes of Dexter Lawrence, Jarran Reed, Ryan Tannehill and Joe Mixon do not.

But nobody with that ability will ever play anybody without that ability. There is no competitive advantage to being in the first 75% over the second 25%.
