if you're counting on kyle allen as a bye week fill in at qb like i am, this might make you feel better about it
Whether or not the Falcons are able to pull off a second consecutive division upset, the pace projects to remain high against the Panthers. Carolina operates at the seventh-quickest situation-neutral snap rate and their games average the fourth-most combined plays. While they have the league’s most dynamic running back, the Panthers pass at the 11th-highest rate while games are within one score – a large part of why Christian McCaffreyis the league’s most dynamic running back. Coming off of a loss in Lambeau in which Carolina still managed nicely with 69 snaps, we can expect them to convert their play volume into points at a higher rate against a Falcons defense allowing the third-most points on a per-play basis.
Brees is the safe bet vs TB and Watson is high risk high reward vs Bal - thoughts?
The Thorman rankings has them right next to each other and 3 and 4, but this is why I would go with Watson and feel good about it:
The games Watson goes nuts are the games the Texans are trailing in. His stats are absolutely gaudy in situations when they are trailing, compared to tied or ahead. It seems unlikely to me that the Ravens won't be able to move the football vs that texans d
As far as Brees goes:
Saints will have something to prove this week, just as much their defense as their offense I think and maybe even more so. I'm not worried about Lattimore being out, obviously it's not preferable, but a scenario where Jameis digs a hole for the Bucs early definitely feels to me like it is more in play than this matchup would normally entail.
And if the Saints get up early, it's going to be far less passing for Brees. An obvious counterpoint to that would be that the Bucs have a great run D but the Saints also have an elite O line. I would say Brees has the lower floor between the 2 of himself and Watson, whatever that's worth, the difference probably isn't that much though.
That's a lot of words to say that I see more paths to failure for Brees than Watson.
Probably the only way Watson doesn't come through is if the Ravens offense lays an absolute egg. The likelihood of carlos hyde vulturing td's from Watson and ruining his fantasy day seems fairly slim.
Sure hope Keenan Allen and Kenny Golladay put up some good numbers despite their tough matchups. Not too optimistic about Allen. Starting to wonder if he's ever gonna break out. I have Christian Kirk on my bench but he's also got a tough matchup so yeah, I might lose this week.
The reason I chose to stream Allen was because of CMC. They're playing a bad defense which will have to give extra resources to stopping CMC which in turn should really open the passing game. CMC is also so dynamic, like stated above, so he can turn a 2 yard dump off into a 70 yard TD.
No way. Allen gets Miami today, and he runs for TD's. 5 straight games where he's scored multiple TD's in some way. Winston has thrown for 17 TD's, but has 14 picks on the season and 10 fumbles, including 8 in the last five games. He may throw for a lot of yards, but he is overall playing awful.
