Maybe not Chiefs discussion but with the Rams getting peters, Trumaine Johnson will most definitely become a free agent now. Wonder if he could be a top target for the Bears if they let fuller walk. Cornerback FA class not looking too bad with Fuller and Johnson at the top

It'd be amazing and funny if the Chiefs got Johnson. If they did it would've been like a trade of Peters for Johnson and a first round pick plus some more picks. I'd take that trade every time lol.
I think this was actually a good move by KC.... Peters is becoming a emotional distraction and as a leader of that D, at what point does it become detrimental?? Good move by KC...
I like the move as well. I just hope they got more than a 1st and 5th round that some people have reported.
Very happy here! We will take the division now that not only him, but also Alex Smith is gone!
Whoa whoa whoa...Smith is a hell of a leader, a very respected teammate, and Pro Bowler that put up great numbers for KC. In my opinion as an NFL fan, he's a top 10 QB in the league. For example, I would gladly take him over injury prone and overrated Andrew Luck.
They didn't trade him because he's an overpaid scrub to a team desperate for a QB, they moved him because they traded up to take the QB they believe will lead them for the next 10-15 years and would lose Smith for nothing after next season. Though, I also think the Redskins should have locked up Cousins and I hoped Smith would land with a real playoff contender.
Losing Kelce in the playoff game against the Titans was a huge loss and was clearly detrimental to the offenses success. IMO, they need to bring in another big target to help spread the field, and help the young gunslinger progress.
Peters is a straight up baller, but as stated by others here already, character concerns and pending free agency got him shipped off to LA. Clearly KC has a lot of holes to fill, but they have to retool a secondary that cannot count on Eric Berry being healthy for a full season, too.

Smith being traded I believe was more of a cap issue than a Mahomes issue, if they had the room I bet they would have kept him longer to slowly wean Mahomes Into the nfl game. Give him more garbage time etc.
In all the interviews I seen with the kid he is very humble and is looking for long term success, if they told him they were going to develop him for another year or two like packers did with Rodgers I’m sure he would be game
these moves should free up plenty of space under the cap though., smith gone, Johnson leaving possibly Hali too, and you have a bunch of young studs still in their rookie contracts, Hill, Hunt, Mahomes, etc.
The Chiefs traded Peters for a 2nd and 4th round pick. The Chiefs also put a 6th rounder in with Peters.
The small haul they got in return speaks to how bad they wanted to move on from him. The market for him was also very small. It was basically either the Rams or no one.
Chris Ballard and John Dorsey were with the Chiefs when Peters was drafted. They are now the GMs of the Colts and Browns. Chiefs reached out to both of them and they both said they didn't want him.
Sounds like Peters is become this generations T.O.
That's garbage. It's a coaching staff's job to get players in check and get the best out of them.. much like it's a parents job to teach their children how to behave and simple life lessons.
I understand chemistry and locker room presence is important but I also feel like a player who has a negative value on those aspects is in part due to the coaching staff not being able to do their jobs effectively.
Maybe some players simply can't be reached, and then the coaching staff gets a pass.. but as it stands now, I don't buy that and I think the Chiefs got fleeced because they couldn't handle a kid with a hot temper/emotional attitude.
Oh well, hope the new look Chiefs defense works out because it seems like they're doing spring cleaning right now... Sounds like they're letting Ron Parker go as well... gonna be an entirely different cast on the field come the start of the new season!

More like baby T.O. T.O and Moss were far crazier than Peters, and also had far greater talent. Not to mention, terrible trade. 2nd and 4th rounders.... lol.
I really think it is important to note that nobody else wanted Peters. Not even the guys who drafted him and would've had tons of cap space to sign him long term.

I don't believe that agenda for one second.
They probably shipped him off to the first offer they got tbh.

From everything I've read the Rams were the only team to actually make an offer.
Marcus Peters in NFL Network interview said he plays Madden after Michael Robinson ask him a question about the Rams, "dam u know the whole team". He says, "I play Madden baby, my team is looking nice". He must play mut lol.
Chiefs are only getting a 4th this year and a 2nd next year, plus sent a 6th back. This was a huge win for the Rams
For sure,
IMO I would have waited it out, They just were in such a hurry that they dropped him for nothing in return. If they would have waited to closer to the draft. I bet they could have gotten a better deal.
John Dorsey is probably being quite stingy with his draft picks, The Browns have a ton of Draft picks early. Giving him the chance to shore up some cheap talent for the next few years. Knowing that eventually he is going to have to pay out big for these guys if they become stars he wants to keep his cap at a low rate for now.

I agree with you. They really rushed it, plus with the Rams being good now, the picks will be really low in the rounds
I had heard Reid didnt want him after the flag throwing incident where he went to the lockerroom so I think other teams might have been scared off so the rams got a steal

TL;DR... Chiefs got fleeced in this "trade"
