If the defense does not improve at all.. and stays on their current trajectory then yes, I believe we lose games to the Bucs, Falcons, Chargers (maybe), Broncos, Raiders (depends on Carr), Bills (maybe), Steelers.. can all be losses. And that is assuming we actually win one of our 2 games against Buffalo. This also assumes that Gronk gets hurt at some point during the year and that Amendola can't handle his increased role within the offense.
I believe the Pats are very capable of winning shootouts.. but that defense is a let down right now and i feel the above teams can outscore us in that scenario.
Now on the flip side.. if the defense even marginally gets better I see us going 10-6 or better as we win the games against the Chargers, tonight's game against the Bucs, and the game against the Raiders (regardless of who is QB).
I know we're supposed to have faith in Bill but it's been 4 weeks now.. not including preseason.. we don't have any serious injuries on defense.. there's just no reason our defensive personnel should be performing as bad as they have been.. so who knows if that's even something that can be fixed at this point.

They can't possibly be this bad for much longer way too much talent on defense for that...it has to just be a scheme thing. Honestly expect 11-5 at worst

This is what i'm hoping but we're 4 weeks in and even that feels like it's 4 weeks too long. We knew since preseason that this defense was playing poorly. From what I saw in preseason I thought it was JUST our run defense that was gonna struggle this year... but they sure fooled me so far
A lot also depends on the Bills... if Shady can stay healthy and that defense keeps playing like a Top 5 defense than we'll have serious pressure this year and a threat to not even make the playoffs. Interesting year in terms of parity throughout the league thus far.

It's just 100% scheme and focus at this point. They're a terrible zone team so as long as they keep playing it they'll struggle. It won't be this bad because eventually guys are going to actually attempt to cover people at least. Through 4 weeks in 14 they were bad also. And then all of a sudden they switched to man against Cincinnati. Gilmore is a press man corner and so is butler so it's time to play it
What an ugly win... but hey.. 3-2 sounds better than 2-3
Crazy how bad the Pats OFFENSE played tonight... this whole team is just out of wack.. the 3rd and short yardage situations are killing us this year. We just can't keep the chains moving with Edelman gone

Gillislee hasn't been able to replace Blount like they were hoping. Blount was fantastic at the goal line and short yardage situations.
The way they played is irrelevent tonight. Thursday games are get through games especially with no gronk last minute. But they do need to figure out a way to incorporate a short passing game cause the line isn't built to pass protect. Positive that when they played a soft zone all second half there were no communication breakdowns, hopefully they get more aggressive as the year goes on like they have since 2012
Yea, positive signs that the defense seemed to be on a much better page last night.. had given up less than 200 yards (i think) heading into the 4th quarter with a two possession lead against the Bucs offense. I'll take that!
Now hopefully they can build upon that with an actual full week of practice and planning.
In other news, Grats on Brady getting the tie with Peyton and Favre for most regular season wins of all time!
The positive to me is that there weren't any massive blown coverages. If they played a good qb I think it would've been different, lot of missed throws by winston who sucks. GOOD THING is 10 days to rest and maybe decide how they want to play on defense

That's true also, the missed DJax TD pass was a key component towards our win last night. Along with the kicker woes

THat was one, but there's just so many throws that winston missed, to the rb etc
Pats going 7-9 this year.. heard it here first
talent is there, just need to see people actually covering and tackles actually being made
