Unlike any past site you may have been a part of, MUTevolution has our very own private instant messenger feature. It's very similar to Facebook's chat so you'll likely pick up on it quickly. It can be found along the bottom bar of the site. The goal when adding this feature was to provide a private and easy way to discuss trades to prevent snipers from lurking the chatbox. We still insist you agree to trades via forum post so everything can be verified if there is any problem. Read below to find out everything you need to know to use this new feature!
I. Adding Friends
The first step to using the private chat system is to add members to your friends list so they'll show up under "Who's Online". To do this click on their username anywhere you see it on the site. You will be taken to their community profile. From there, just click [Add Friend] and that's it. From now on they'll show up in your list of available members in the private chat feature.
II. Private Instant Messaging
Select the person you with to message from your list of "Who's Online". Simply enter the chat and they will receiver it. An orange ball to the right of their username indicates they are away and green indicates they are available. If you're familiar with facebook, everything should be very straight forward.
III. Private Group Chats
Select the "Chatrooms" tab on the far left of the chat bar. You can enter a public or private (if you have the password) chat from the lobby. If you wish to create your own chatroom, click "create chatroom" on top and enter the chat's name and type. Click create room and you'll enter your created chat. If you wish to chat in full screen mode, just click "popout" on top of the chat.
The chat we are using offers additional features as well which include games. You can play single player games by clicking on the "radioactive symbol" on the bottom left of the chat bar. If you wish to challenge someone to a two player game, first initiate a private chat with that person. From there, click the "deck of cards" symbol within the chat window. You'll need to select your game and send the challenge. If your opponent accepts, you will both enter the game through a new window.
To check current announcements from the MUTevolution Team, you can click the "newspaper" icon on the left of the chat bar. If announcements exist, you'll see a full list of them. Additionally if you're online while an announcement is posted, you'll see it pop up above your "Who's Online" tab.
If you feel anything is missing from this brief overview, or have additional questions, please create a topic in general help and someone from the MUTevolution Team will respond as quickly as possible. If your issue is helpful to others, it will be added to this guide to the chat feature. Thanks for Cometchat brought to you by MUTevolution.com.
